The TDR 250 was Yamaha's 'ultimate dual' concept: a liquid-cooled two-stroke parallel twin derived from the TZR 250, in a double-cradle steel frame with dual-purpose tyres and road-bike brakes. It aimed to be nearly as quick on the road as a TZR while handling rough ground like a trail bike. Distinctive touches were the tank-mounted head fairing and tachometer and a cross-over exhaust.
